Interview With…

Doro Pesch

Nashvillerock:  Doro, I know you are on the road in the midst of your  “25 Years in Rock” North American tour, appreciate you making time to talk with us at Nashvillerock.net.   A lot of metal fans are pretty excited about you coming back to Nashville on April 18th with Fatal Smile.

Doro Pesch:  Yes, we are very excited too!  We will be finishing up this US tour in Nashville (like it was last time in June 07) and we wanna celebrate it real big!  It will be a special night.

NR:  This is your second time coming to Nashville and playing at The Muse. It has become one of our best clubs the past couple years in the area for bringing true metal to middle Tennessee. How has your response been from the Nashville fans?

Doro: Absolutely fantastic.  We had a great show last time and look forward to another.

NR:  How has the tour been going? I’ve seen stellar reviews and lots of posts saying great things about the show.

Doro:  Man this tour is truly amazing.  So far the shows have been really great and the fans were wonderful.

NR:  With so much great material to pick from between the Doro Pesch solo releases and your early Warlock catalog, how do you choose what you want to play live?

Doro:We always feel it out.  The fans can call out their favorite songs in the encores as well.  And of course we play the highlights of each album.

NR:  For you personally what are some of the songs that are your favorites to play?

Doro:Oh…so many…like…Above The Ashes, Love Me In Black and All We Are.

NR:  Metal has morphed over the years into more sub genres like Power metal, Death, Thrash, then ever before. Are there any particular styles that you really enjoy?

Doro:  Whatever is good…I like a lot of stuff and I love variety.

NR:  Heavy Metal has always been seen as a male dominated musical culture, but over the last decade there has been an amazing influx of female fronted true metal bands taking center stage. Bands like Lacuna Coil, Evanescence and Arch Enemy are really making strides in a field you helped pioneer. What are your thoughts on this?

Doro:  I think that’s great and I’ll always support that.  There are a lot of extremely talented ladies out there.  Very cool!!

NR:  After 25 years recording and touring the world and being a huge part of the global metal scene what inspires you to continue to create music?

Doro:  The great fan base.  I truly love the fans and it always inspires and motivates me tremendously.

NR:  Will we get to see a new Doro Pesch album in the near future?

Doro:Yes, of course.  We’ll be working on new material right after the US tour and look for a new release in Spring 2009.

NR:Thank you Doro for stopping in at Nashvillerock.net.  Can’t wait to see you tear the stage up at The Muse on April 18th.

Doro: And thank you guys for your great support in Metal.  I’m really looking forward to playing in Nashville again and I’ll see you there, Ok?!?!?

Lots of Love… Rock on!

Doro
