Oblivion Myth to release debut album with former Fatal Opera lead vocalist Andy Freeman
Oblivion Myth will release its debut album titled Between Light and Shadow in July 2008 featuring new vocalist Andy Freeman, formerly of Massacre Records artist Fatal Opera with ex-Megadeth drummer Gar Samuelson. Freeman joined the band officially in March of 2008 and brings years of live and studio experience with him along with showcasing clear yet commanding, powerful vocals.
Between Light and Shadow features 8 tracks of intense, power/thrash metal. Songs such as “Twilight Dementia” feature the melodic, catchy side of Oblivion Myth’s sound while others like “Evil of All Corners” and “The Knightserrant” bring forth hard-hitting guitar riffs along with a thunderous symphony of percussion. Still yet, songs like “Mystique,” an audience favorite, are sure to bring fans to the front of the stage with its power metal sound.
Oblivion Myth began as the creation of Keith Smith in Florida in 2002. Smith envisioned a sound influenced by his favorite childhood artists such as Kiss, Dio, Iron Maiden interfused with newer prog/power metal bands such as Blind Guardian and Symphony X. Smith, dissatisfied with the local metal scene in Florida, relocated to Nashville in pursuit of fellow musicians who shared his vision.
Enter Chris Selby and Patrick Nickell, who by a chance meeting in 2005, instantly realized the chemistry and potential they possessed as a team. Smith, responding to an ad for musicians, quickly joined forces with this duo to form the nucleus of an explosive metal unit. Their first efforts resulted in the song “Dimensions” found in Track 1 of the current press release CD.
After a few local gigs, The Myth added bassist Patrick White and current vocalist Andy Freeman to ultimately complete the lineup. With an undeniable power and stage presence, Oblivion Myth is ready to launch its 2008 campaign in support of its first full-length studio album.
