Jerry Work  /The Founder Of NashvilleRock.net: Five years ago Jerry had a vision for the underground rock scene and created NashvilleRock.net. Jerry and his brother Chris Work also run WORKMEDIA.net a consultant web team that handles many corporate sites. This year the keys of NashvilleRock.net were handed over to Dave Baker & Kyle Steranka who currently recreated the site using their database and web skills. Jerry plays bass for GearDriven.net a southern style rock band who is making headway in the Nashville community. He also writes the weekly newsletter.jwork@workmedia.net

Dave Baker/Managing Editor,Webmaster,Band Camp: Dave is the managing editor and one of the webmasters of Nashvillerock.net.  Dave has been a long time participant in the local Nashville rock music scene.  Dave's band "The Groove Krickets" played about every place in Nashville and toured the world numerous times.  That project lasted 18 years starting in the mid 80's.  Currently Dave is involved in another band project called "Guns-A-Go-Go".  Dave writes a column for NashvilleRock.net entitled "This One Time at Band Camp" he also attends shows to photograph and review when time permits. Dave appears in the weekly episodes of the NRCV videos.  Contact Dave at dave@nashvillerock.net dave2.jpg

Kyle Steranka “Critter” /The other Managing Editor,Webmaster, Video Guy: Kyle has been in the music scene for many years and has created the Multimedia show NRCV.net  to provide more entertainment for our local scene.  He grew up with the founder of NashvilleRock.net (Jerry Work) in the sticks of Dickson County and basically the rest of the band GEARDRIVEN on a small country road called Coon Creek Road. That’s where the name critter came from… He now resides in Nashville where it is impossible to pee outside without being arrested but still tests the area coverage from time to time.  critter@nashvillerock.net

Christopher Czynszak/Uncle Daddy's Smoke Shack: Chris, a.k.a. Uncle Daddy Longlegs writes the weekly column entitled, “Uncle Daddy’s Smoke Shack” and is a newer member of the staff but has big plans for his future. He is originally from Nashville but grew up in other parts of the country. He’s played guitar since the age of six and been a member of Primrose Way, Chryme, Warchild, and his current band, Say Uncle! “I’ve really enjoyed writing for the site so far. I’m getting out in the scene as much as I can and have had a ball meeting the bands and people involved in the industry. I plan to get a degree in broadcast journalism and do this type of work for a living. This has been great hands on experience.”
Chris is fast becoming “Reviewer Guy” for the site. If you want him to review a show or a cd, get in touch with him and line it up. “If you see a dork with a 3-ring binder at a show feverishly writing things down during a band’s set, it’s a safe bet that it’s me. Come up and introduce yourself. I’m naturally a shy person but this job is helping me come out of my shell. I really love to meet people in person and get feedback on what they think of my column. So, if you like what you read in my column or if you think I absolutely suck, let me know. I welcome all comments! Hope to see you all at some shows!”. Bren Alesch / Angelwing's Photography

Bren's photography career began when her musician friends asked her to shoot their shows. Bren found that she loved capturing the moments of raw energy and passion the artists expressed during their performances and the challenges this type of photography presented.

After hundreds of shows honing her skills, Bren became recognized as the photographer with wings tattooed on her back. It seemed only natural that she open up Angelwing Photography.

Most of Bren's clients are friends....or have become friends. Through this close association she captures the individual essence of each performer.

"I did not find photography, photography found me."

Paul Brittain/Under The Covers: Paul was born in Birmingham and raised in Atlanta. He learned every Ace Frehley lick up through "Creatures of the Night"His band got a deal and he moved to Nashville. They made 3 albums did some tours and broke up.He joined another band with a deal and then they broke up too.He started freelancing (notably with Jay DeMarcus and Gary Levox of Rascall Flatts as well as singer Michael English) until he could decide if he wanted to be in another band. When the smoke cleared he decided he was tired of singers leaving the bands and the bands breaking up.So he became the singer and in doing so became J.PAUL.     He listens to mostly talk radio but occasionally flips from The Buzz to Lightning to Jack and back to The Buzz again. He doesn't particularly like Nashville but he loves the bands and the music that we have here.Though his band for J.PAUL music is in Atlanta, he can still be seen around town playing acoustic solo sets, performing with Kung Pow, and making appearances as "Pope J.Paul Jones" with The Jones at JonesWorld. The 2000 J.PAUL release , "unspeakable", can be found at Tower Records (Opry Mills), Digital Planet, and his website at www.jpaulmusic.com J.Paul2.jpg

bigdaddy - Staff Consultant & Production Coordinator / Executive Director

The bigdaddy... The who?!

One of the most outspoken and opinonated members of the NR.net staff, he lets his thoughts be known in no uncertain terms.  Bigdaddy has been involved in the Nashville local rock scene for well over a decade on many levels from production and engineering to advising and promotion.  Bigdaddy's crew (aptly named bigdaddy Productions) is renowned for their professionalism and ability to make events flow smoothly and flawlessly.  Having many NashvilleRock.net events under their belt such as the Music City Mayhem I and II, they no doubt will have many more successful shows in store for everone in the Nashville Rock Community. Although the use of his pseudonyme gives him a certain degree of anonymity, those who do know him personally have grown to trust his abilities and know that he truly cares about the local music scene.

Big, Fat...and he gets down like that.

Heather Nash / GirlyGirl

I mostly listen to local stuff. I go see locals in town about once a week. Other than that, I love metal and I'm big on classic rock. Heather has been apart of our local scene for several years. The community loves her adventures to find out just what the hell happened during a show or some kind of event. You will love reading her article!

Jeff Hightower/Hornet Man:

Who am I… To all those who read my column I am the HornetMan.  The name is an evolution a nickname I was given years ago.  I grew up knowing Critter and Jerry Work most all my life.  I learned to play guitar in drafting class from Greardriven’s guitarist, David Jones.  Not until we graduated high school did I realize whom his family was (The Carter/Cash family for all you who didn’t know). While in college, I played with a southern rock band called “Peacemakers”.  We gain a following being the only southern rockers in a world of newly discovered alternative rock.  With the encouragement of the rest of the band, I surfaced as the main songwriter.  (Let me tell you, to have people know words you wrote and sing them back to you, is a feeling that could make time stand still).  From there my eyes had been opened to worlds of country, rock, and most noticeably the blues.  My hero’s became Warren Haynes and Jeff Healy.  They have had the most impact in my playing and writing style.  If you go way back, I listen to legends such as Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters & John Lee Hooker.  I put together what is known as HornetManStudios.  It’s a small home studio where I could write what I wanted the way I wanted.  I started getting my name out there through sites like www.myspace.com/jeffhightower and my personal homepage at www.jeffhightower.com.  Years down the road, I was able to hook back up with Jerry and Critter.  I was invited to write a column for Nashvillerock.net.  Seeing the opportunity to say something to a larger audience and feeling honored to set beside my childhood friend once again, I jumped on it.  And as for the rest… we’ll have to see what the future brings.

Jill Garett / Indie Bratt

I am mostly a listener, unless you catch me in hyperactive mode during which I rant and rave about random crap. I am sometimes TOO honest and sometimes TOO quiet. I am moody. Zodiac books always say the Capricorns are the quiet dreamers with a firepit of passion hidden within their immalleable shells. Yep.

There is method to my madness. I'd like to be more of a rogue-hippie-gypsy-bohemian. Life is short, ya know? We'll just figure it out as we go along. There are three things I know to be 100% true: I am not perfect, I am sometimes wrong and one day I will die.

With every battle there is a protest song, with every wall there is a wrecking ball, and with every youthful heart there is an uneasy rhythm that has to be expressed.

Overall, I am just Jill. Somebody has to be.

Winslow Leech/The Spit Cup: My name is Jose, yet people know me as The Leech. I moved here from Puerto Rico in 1998 and I’ve been around the scene for several years; doing the here now/disappearing act every now and again. It’s all about priorities. Everybody has them.  As of now I have ‘The Spit Cup’, which is a column where I can write about whatever I want and ad my opinions and views to whatever I deem worthy of being a topic of conversation, and I am also the vocalist for local rock band, Scars Remain. I also have a ‘Spit Cup’ segment in the weekly NRCV videos alongside my puppet cousin Jorge. I started out in the scene as the bassist in the band Eclectic Bullet. Also was one of the founding members of The Coalition. I was one, if not the ‘original’ columnist for www.nashvillerock.net when I moved my column ‘The Spit Cup’ from my band’s website to nashvillerock.net in order to reach a broader audience with my writings and wacky antics. The Spit Cup also had its own ‘Yearly Awards’, which is all for the sake of a good laugh and in no way does it express neither the opinions nor views of the other columnists and webmasters of www.nashvillerock.net  People who read my column and have read some of the online commentary I post should remember that it is all in good fun and should take it with a grain of salt. I don’t aim to please everybody, nor am I looking for a cult following. Screw that… all I want to do is write about whatever and have a blast doing it. If you enjoy it, GREAT!
