Back in 2003, five friends decided to get together and play some music
for the fun of it. No preconceptions of stardom or fame. Just write
some music, play some shows and have some fun. Little did we know the
journey it would take us on. It all made sense being so young, so
little else to do, so little worries in life.
Here we are almost 6 years later in the chapter that is Return To
Self. For some, the story may not read so mighty. On the outside, it
may appear so. But for the character of this tale it was epic.
What can we say, the past 6 years have been incredible. We have played
so many awesome shows, and alot of not so awesome shows. We have
played all over the map, logged many miles. Made so many great friends
and great fans. These people are the reason we do what we do. We have
played with so many great bands. Learned what to do, what not to do,
and gained inspiration from many of them. Some of you have been there
since the very first show. Some have come and gone. But if you ever
took the time to listen to something we have done, came to a show,
bought a shirt, a cd, a sticker, told a friend...we can not thank you
enough. To any band that has played with us, or let us play with them,
we thank you. We definitely dont have a way to really repay all these
people.
Years have passed since we were young with no attachments and
responsibilities. Wives, jobs, bills, kids, ages, time...it all
changes everything. For some of us more so than others.
We started out playing music because we loved to. And we still love
to. We didnt care if people liked us, and many more did than we
thought would!
Return to Self is a chapter in the book of life for us in the band; A
chapter that has ended. But like a great novel, the story moves on to
the next chapter. Some, if not all the characters may show up in the
next chapter, some may not, maybe it reads like a 'choose your own
adventure' book. This chapter ends with more thanks than can fit on a
page to everyone who has read along. And a foot note that reads 'The
fire is what brought us here-the passion for music that drives us is
why we are where we are today. That will never disappear for any of
us, nor the pages of this chapter'.

Porter in Nashville, with our great friends Deadsun, who
coincidentally is the same band we played our first show with as
Return To Self. Come and join us if you can. We would love to read the
