On Friday May 12th I was actually in town and out and about.Tequila Sunrise (my current "under the covers" feature that week) was playing at The Exit/In and while I should have been in attendance at their show I wasn't. I was divided. You see, this night was the end of an era; it was Matt's last show with Bueller before he moved back to California.I had never seen the band before and had been hanging out with Dave lately so I felt that I needed to be at The Flying Saucer for the final hurrah. I was not disappointed.....to be honest, a couple of Thursdays previous to this I was in town and popped into Decades (the band's Friday night house gig) to hear them but the zipper on my pants busted and I had to pack it in as soon as I got there.
They had been rehearsing for a month or two in preparation for Matt's departure and were ready for version 2.0 with new singer/guitarist Jack Taylor (ex-One Drop Rule).I was already in "The District" that afternoon(the singer for my new band was playing at The Wildhorse)so I swung by Bueller's soundcheck at The Flying Saucer before the "good cheesy fun" started.
Fortunately I'm not Ben Stein so they were there and not "home sick".
