Do you love hard rock music? Do you love all-day events?

If you don’t, I bet someone close to you does. If you don’t see or hear from this person on Saturday, they will probably be at Buzzfest VI.

If you do enjoy hard rock music, you should roll the dice and gamble your usual leisure Saturday for a day of rock ’n’roll.

Hosted by WBUZ 102.9 The Buzz, this sixth annual celebration of all things rock will be celebrated tomorrow at Starwood Amphitheatre. The headliner will be multi-platinum Massachusettes-based band Staind. Once heralded as Fred Durst’s grand find, they recently released their fifth album “Chapter V” which ranges from retro to edgy, forceful to quiet and industrial to melodic. Singer Aaron Lewis’ vocals have always been the cherry on top of the Staind cake.

Openers throughout the day include Three Days Grace of “I Hate Everything About You” fame, Breaking Benjamin, Evans Blue, Soil and Black Stone Cherry. Festival goers will be able to rest their sore headbangin’ necks and fist raisin’ elbows when Cowboy Mouth takes the stage. Here’s what to expect: singer Fred LeBlanc will yell at you for not screaming and threaten to leave, and later make you “get low” to the ground then jump up at his command (typically during their hit “Jenny Says”).

Local rock heroes Ligion and Luna Halo are the ones to watch — you can say “I knew them when...” You can also expect new tunes due to recent record deals.

Ligion recently signed with Maple Jam Records and have been recording their debut since July. In early July of 2003 Ligion moved to Nashville from Cleveland, Ohio. Their debut single “Reality” made them one of two unsigned bands ever to be added to 102.9 The Buzz in regular rotation and became the 17th most requested song on the station in all of 2003.

Luna Halo is about break out of Nashville via Warner Brothers. After hearing their independent release and seeing the band’s powerful live delivery, legendary producer Rick Rubin (Tom Petty, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Run DMC, Johnny Cash) encouraged Warner Bros to ink a deal with them in May 2005. As of this month, a three-song EP was made available at i-Tunes, at shows and the on-line store zambooie.com.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts second stage boasts even more Nashville stars including 100 Watt Opera, Former, Project Jones, Copper, Return to Self, Deadsun, Shadows of Light, Everafters and Unclean.

Criticisms of past Buzzfests have ranged from awesomely-good (Buzzfest III and IV) to awesomely-bad (Buzzfest V), so I suggest you get there early to check out all the local acts at this one venue for the one affordable ticket price (versus driving around Nashville and paying covers) then concentrate on the big players.

Ligion will also be hosting an after party with special guests at 11:15 p.m. at 12th & Porter. Admission is free with a Buzzfest VI ticket.
