1)- So how did you guys get started?

ADORATION began with the ending of a band that I , Andy Parks , and Matt Mcallister were in called "Athame" in early 2006. Things were not progressing as they should , so we began rehearsing with our long-time friend , Joe Dunn , whom had just dis-banded a group called "Watching You" , in which he played guitar and sang. Will Christ joined the ranks in early 2006 after he had a falling out with his band , "contrast Gray" , to take guitar duties off of Joe so he could concentrate on his vocals.

2)- Who are some of your favorite bands now?

Recently , I've had a sick fascination with bands like Steve Winwood , Fleetwood Mac , and Depeche Mode , simply for the professional songs that were recorded and performed live , in my opinion , flawlessly. I've also been rocking out to Joy Division , New Order , and The Cure. As far as fundamental inspiration as to what we create , I would have to mention bands like Failure , Refused , Year of the Rabbit , Pink Floyd , Elliot Smith , NIN , Tonic , and The Police. Our lil' 19 year old , Will Christ likes emo'ing it out to bands like My Chemical Romance , but we just won't tolerate that.

3)- If you had the choice , who would you like to tour with?

Our pals in Ten Years , of course! Matt Wantland is our drinking partner , as well as our part-time mgr. I think Ten Years fans would really dig our music because we are basically the same age and hail from the same city , and have similar partying preferences as well as taste in music.

4)- Are there any venues that stand out as a favorite place to perform?

A couple of places in Knoxville immediately come to mind. Blue Cats is one of them. We play there quite often , and with other local bands , have been able to develop quite a prolific rock scene here.We also had a chance to open for Shinedown at the Tennessee Theatre , which is absolutely amazing. Knoxville spent millions in renovation and you can definitely tell. It's jaw-droppingly beautiful , and sonically right on...we didn't even need monitors on stage!

5)- As far as recording , what are some of your favorite things , and some obstacles?

Recording is definitely the best part of being a musician. It's really hard work. Playing the same parts over and over is painfully montonous , and with poper editing , can take a pretty unforgiving amount of time. But this is nothing compared to having the opportunity to hear your songs exactly as you wanted , and then some. The feeling of popping in a track in your cd player on the way home from a 12 hour day of tracking is un-beatable. It's unfortunate , however , when you come to the sobering realization that you are completely out of money!

6)- Is there anyone or thing that has helped you guys out with your progress so far?

So many people have helped us with pictures , websites , promotion and such that I just don't have space to list. Right now , Matt Wantland has been by far the biggest help to us. He's practically managed us , calling me every day , telling me stuff I need to be doing , and has also never been shy with financial help. Brent Smith from Shinedown also has been helping out with finances and the biz. Paul D'amour , formerly of TOOL , specifically helped me when he flew me out to L.A. for a while to audition for his new project , Feersum Ennjin. When I came back to Knoxville , I felt like I was not only a completely different person , but a much improved guitarist and songwriter. That man's brilliant! He even offered to produce us when we're ready!

7)- What's some of your favorite things about Knoxville?

Definitely , the scene we have going on here. I like to think all of the bands here are friends and Blue Cats is definitely a great place to check all of us out. Crucial to this town's rock scene has been the studio we all record at. Lakeside studios , which is owned by an amazing producer Travis Wyrick who has a full-time engineer named Mike Dearing that records all our stuff(we can't aford Wyrick)...it's because of them that we are able to sonically compete with bands from much larger cities.

Knoxville may be a small town , but I like to think we have all the essentials. People here are the "real deal". People here acknowledge each other and seemingly care about one another , not in a "what can this person do for me" kinda way. There is definitely not alot of ego around here. I definitely can't say that about some of the big cities I've been to.
