Interview With...
Downstream
So, how did you guys get started and how did you come up with the name?
Nathan Loveless--In the summer of '04, a friend of mine from another local Chattanooga band kept telling me about three musicians(Matt Meadows,Wes Hartman,Roger Shudders) that practiced across from him that needed a vocalist and another guitarist.Actually,on the funny side, they didn't "think" they needed another axeman. So I kinda smoothed my way into claiming to be a vox/axeman, even though I had no intention of singing. After they heard what it sounded like with two guitarists,I was "in".A week later, Seth Harper auditioned for the vocalist and it was a perfect fit. We played shows continuosly for a year, before we picked up Curtis Anthony to handle the bottom-end chores.Everything was really good, until we lost Matt Meadows(guitarist) to a fatal car wreck. We were truly blessed and amazed at the support shown from friends and family after this tragedy. As hard as it was letting go of our brother, we continued on with our mission.Looking back, playing music was a great healing factor. It's kinda strange, but I can feel him over my shoulder during shows. We played as a 4 peice until June '07,when we found a good fit for another guitarist. Hopefully, we are golden unless we introduce spoons or a cowbell player. As far as our name, I wish I could tell you some great story, but we wanted a name noone else had.We were thinking more in terms of "down-loading" from the internet, but most fans think it's about water, rivers, etc.

Anything else you wanna add?
I would just like to say to anyone wanting to break into the music business, that understand your true reasons for getting into music before you start. If you get into it for fame and fortune, you'll most likely be dissappointed. It's a highly competitive industry and is overly saturated, so becoming "famous" is not an easy task.Just have fun and enjoy it before someone sleeps with your girlfriend, and you have to quit:)
From what I gather from DOWNSTREAM, they're in it to just play. Now THAT'S metal! Horns up, guys!
