In preparing to see my first headlining show with Upon Arrival, I sent Jake Reynolds, Guitar/Backing Vocals, a few questions to get myself more familiar with the band.  These guys may be youngsters, but there is nothing innocent about their sound; they know how to rip it up, shred it out, and throw down!  Their songs have this perfect mixture of old school’s depth with today’s progressive diversity.  These up and comers in the Nashville metal scene have the potential to endure for decades.  Since Upon Arrival are out featured artist, I thought I would share this interview with my readers; because trust me, one day soon everyone will know who Upon Arrival is!  So, allow me to be the first to give you the down low on and introduce you to…..UPON ARRIVAL!

JB:  BAND MEMBERS: NAME, INSTRUMENT, AGE, HOMETOWN

JAKE:  Jake Reynolds - Guitar/Vocals, 18, Dayton, Ohio
          Taylor Moss - Lead Guitar, 17, Illinois
          Josh Johnson – Bass, 16, Kansas
          Sami Chatmon – Vocals, 18, Memphis
          Jessi Baker – Drums, 18, Knoxville
 
JB:  HOW LONG HAS EACH MEMBER BEEN PLAYING/SINGING?
JAKE:  Jake - 5 years singing and playing guitar
            Taylor - 13 years playing all instruments
            Josh - 3 years playing bass
            Sami - 1 1/2 years singing
            Jessi - 14 years on drums
    
JB:  WHAT KIND OF SET-UP/RIG/EQUIPMENT DOES YOUR BAND USE?
JAKE:  Crate amps, Pearl drums, DeArmond, Epiphone, and Fender guitars

JB:  TOP 3 (EITHER INDIVIDUAL OR BAND) PERSONAL AND/OR MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
JAKE:  Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold, Guns-n-Roses

JB:  BAND MEMBER’S DAY JOBS?
JAKE:  Jake - Warehouse worker
            Taylor - School and Party City
            Josh - School
            Sami - Searching for a job
            Jessi - Pearl warehouse worker

JB:  BAND MEMBER’S HOBBIES, OTHER THAN PLAYING MUSIC?
JAKE:  Art and designing clothes

JB:  ORIGIN OF BAND LINEUP?
JAKE:  Formed at McGavock High School

 
JB:  ORIGIN OF BAND NAME?
JAKE:  Out of a list of our made up band names that wasn’t taken already

JB:  IN 5 WORDS SUM UP THE SOUND OF YOUR BAND…
JAKE:  Professional, Driven, Hungry, Open - Minded, Creative

JB:  HAVE MANAGEMENT?  IF SO, PLEASE LIST…
JAKE:  Yes, but not professional management; just a road manager who books gigs and helps us not get screwed over…done out of love and vision for the band

JB:  SIGNED? IF SO, PLEASE LIST…
JAKE:  Not yet!

JB:  DOES YOUR BAND HAVE ITS OWN HOME STUDIO?
JAKE:  A couple 8 tracks that we remember with!

JB:  HAS YOUR BAND RELEASED A DEMO OR FULL LENGTH ALBUM?
a. IF SO, WHEN?
b. IF SO, WHERE WAS IT RECORDED?
c. IF NOT, IS THERE ONE CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS?
d. IF NOT, IS ONE PLANNED IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
JAKE:  Not released but we have a couple demos!

JB:  IF YOUR BAND IS CURRENTLY RECORDING AN ALBUM, WHAT IS THE ANTICIPATED RELEASE DATE AND HOW MANY TRACKS?
JAKE:  N/A

JB:  WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE BAND? (THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A CRAZY QUESTION; BUT THERE ARE BANDS THAT PLAY FOR THE LOVE OF PLAYING, NOT TRYING TO HIT IT BIG.)
JAKE: Our goal is to be the next Super Group! They don’t exist anymore and that is what the world is missing!
 
JB:  WHEN IS YOUR NEXT SHOW?
JAKE:  November 3 @ The End (already happened…December 16 @ The End)

JB:  IF YOUR BAND COULD OPEN FOR ANY BAND WORLDWIDE, WHO WOULD IT BE?
JAKE:  The original line up of Guns-n-Roses, the last real super group we look up to!

JB:  IF YOUR BAND COULD PLAY ANY VENUE WORLDWIDE, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

JAKE:  Castle Donnington ;)
